The Beginning in Hindi
- C-language is a high level programming language from which we can create different types of programs and software. It was developed in America's Bell Laboratory in the year 1972. The credit for the development of this language goes to Dennis Ritchie.
- After the 1960s, computer languages began to be used in most areas for a certain type of work, such as the COBOL language used in business applications and FORTRAN in scientific and research work.
- In place of different computer languages for different purposes, there was a need for a computer language that could do possible work, then ALGOL computer language CPL (Combined Programming Language) was developed at Cambridge University.
- This CPL language was difficult to learn and complex to use.
- After this BCPL (Basic Comb Programming Language) language was developed by Martin Richard at Cambridge University. This language was better than CPL language.
- At the same time, a computer language 'B' was developed by Ken Thomson in Bell Laboratory but developed the new computer language C language. Ritchie eliminated the shortcomings of BCPL and B language in C language and made it a powerful computer language which is still popular today.
- After this C-language was modified by many organizations. ANSI (American National Standards Institute) provided some more features, after that it came to be known as ANSI 'C'.

(1) The most important feature of this programming language is that it has all the properties of High Level Programming Language as well as all the properties of Low Level Language are found in it. There are also high level languages FORTRAN, COBOL but they do not have the properties of low level languages.
(2) The speed of the program prepared in this programming language is relatively fast. It takes almost one second to count from 0 to 15000. whereas in Basic, this work takes about 50 seconds.
(3) In the 'C' programming language, many functions are defined for use in the program, but there is no additional feature on the file, or the second method is that the programmer can also define new functions as per his requirement.
(4) Mainly C programming language is used for mathematics, science and system related works.
(5) Lower case letters are used while giving instructions in 'C' computer programming language.

सी भाषा का परिचय
- C भाषा एक हाई लेवल प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा है। जिससे हम विभिन्न प्रकार के प्रोग्राम और सॉफ्टवेयर तैयार कर सकते हैं।
- इसे अमेरिका की बेल प्रयोगशाला में सन् 1972 मै विकसित किया गया था। इस भाषा के विकास का श्रेय डेनिस रिची को जाता है।
- सन् 1960 के बाद कम्प्यूटर भाषाएँ अधिकतर क्षेत्रों में एक निश्चित प्रकार के कार्यों के लिए प्रयोग में आने लगी, जैसे- COBOL भाषा व्यापारिक अनुप्रयोगों में और FORTRAN वैज्ञानिक और अनुसंख्धान कार्यों में प्रयोग की जाता थी है।
- विभिन्न उद्देदश्यों के लिए भिन्न भिन्न कम्प्यूटर भाषाओं के स्थान पर एक ऐसी कम्प्यूटर भाषा की आवश्यकता हुई, जो सम्भव कार्य कर सके तब ALGOL कम्प्यूटर भाषा & CPL (Combined Programming Language) कैम्ब्रिज विश्वविद्याल में विकसित की गई।
- यह CPL भाषा सीखने में कठिन और उपयोग में जटिल थी।
- इसके बाद BCPL (Basic Comb Programming Language) भाषा का *मार्टिन रिचर्ड* ने कैम्ब्रिज विश्वविद्यालय में ही विकास किया। यह भाषा CPL भाषा स अच्छी थी।
- इसी समय एक कम्प्यूटर भाषा 'बी' केन थॉमसन (Ken Thomson) ने बेल प्रयोगशाला में विकसित की लेकिन नयी कम्प्यूटर भाषा C भाषा का विकास किया। रिची ने सी भाषा में BCPL और बी भाषा की कमियों को समाप्त करके इसे एक शक्तिशाली कम्प्यूटर भाषा का रूप दिया जो आज भी लोकप्रिय है।
- इसके बाद C-भाषा को अनेक संस्थाओं ने संशोधित किया। ANSI (American National Standard Institute) ने इस कुछ और सुविधाएँ प्रदान कीं, उसके बाद इसे ANSI 'C' के नाम से जाना जाने लगा था।

इसके फीचर्स क्या है, और सी इतना महत्वपूर्ण क्यों है?
(1) इस प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा की सबसे महत्त्वपूर्ण विशेषता यह है कि इसमें हाई लेवल प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा (High Level Programming Language) के समस्त गुण तो हैं ही साथ ही इसमें लो लेवल (Low Level) भाषा के समस्त गुण पाए जाते हैं। हाई लेवल भाषा FORTRAN, COBOL भी हैं लेकिन इनमें लो लेवल (Low Level) भाषा के गुण नहीं पाए जाते।
(2) इस प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा में तैयार किए गए प्रोग्राम की गति अपेक्षाकृत तीव्र होती है। यह 0 से 15000 तक गिनने में लगभग एक सेकण्ड का समय लेती है। बेसिक में इस कार्य में लगभग 50 सेकण्ड लगते हैं।
(3) 'सी' प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा में प्रोग्राम में प्रयोग करने हेतु अनेक functions परिभाषित होते हैं परन्तु इसमें एक अतिरिक्त सुविधा फाइल पर ओवरराइट ना हो अथवा द्वितीय विधि यह भी है कि प्रोगामर अपनी आवश्यकतानुसार नए functions भी परिभाषित कर सकता है।
(4) 'सी' प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा में मात्रा 32 'की' शब्द (Key Words) का प्रयोग होता है, इसके साथ ही इसमें अन्य सहायक प्रोग्राम होते हैं, वह एक स्पेस रिक प्रोग्राम भी होते हैं जिनकी सहायता से जटिल Functions भी सफलतापूर्वक किए जा सकते हैं।
(5) मुख्यतः सी प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा गणित, विज्ञान एवं सिस्टम सम्बन्धित कार्यों के काम आती है।
(6) 'सी' कम्प्यूटर प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा में निर्देश देते समय Lower Case Letters का ही प्रयोग किया जाता है।
